About the Author
James Swartz attended Lawrence University and the University of California before finding his niche in the world of business, where he had great success. But in 1967 he experienced a major epiphany that turned him away from that life and he traveled to India on a spiritual journey, searching for the path to enlightenment. There he met the famous Indian sage Swami Chinmayananda, whose teachings set him free. James now teaches Vedanta through worldwide seminars and his website, shiningworld.com.

Even clearer!

James Swartz' 2009 book How To Attain Enlightenment was the clearest most helpful work I had ever found on Vedanta but he has surpassed that with this book; fleshing out the details and adding further depth of understanding. A true gem of self-inquiry. I know of no better introduction and exposition of Vedanta except spending time with James in person.

For me this book was a clear concise text on the science of reality based on traditional Vedanta teachings.
With his refreshing contemporary style of writing, he simplifies non-dual knowledge into a
easily understandable format that Westerners can grasp.
What I appreciated most after reading this book, is that James Swartz has spent his entire lifetime gleaning the
best from the ancient Vedanta writings and texts providing us with a comprehensive system of of how to set ourselves free.
In the process, he has become the best teacher on the subject worldwide.
His website offers volumes of information for free. I have not known any other
teachers like him who have no agenda other than to serve to awaken humanity. I have attended his classes
(He doesn't charge a fee.) and have grown exponentially in what I have gained from his teachings.
What better opportunity in this lifetime than to receive the knowledge of who we truly are -- this book has it all for the taking.
