About the Author
Primary author of the famous Port Huron Statement,�TOM HAYDEN�was a leader in the student, antiwar, and civil rights protests throughout the 1960s. He took up the environmental cause in the 1970s, leading campaigns to shut down nuclear power plants and serving as California’s first solar energy official. He was elected to the California legislature in 1982, serving for eighteen years. He continues to write as an editor of the�Nation, and has taught at universities across the country—from Harvard’s Institute of Politics to the UCLA Labor Center. He is currently the director of the Peace and Justice Resource Center in California.

Good book especially in light of December 17, 2014

A long and complicated diplomatic and political story spanning more than half a century that is well articulated in this book. It is a history of the struggle of the Cuban people for their national independence, social justice, and development confront with the awesome, arrogant imperial power of the USA. Worth reading, also, as it raises crucial topics and not yet an answered question about the future of revolution and change in the emergent countries of Latin America with Cuba playing a leading role.

the info. was not new info. it was a one-sided view of Cuba without real investigation, I was disappointed with Tom Hayden's work.

Hayden talks a lot better than he writes

Hayden talks a lot better than he writes. He just can't help himself when it comes to rehashing New Left dogma. Contrast this book with Rene Dumont's pragmatic review of the problems facing the Cuban Revolution.
