The questions in these books are pretty much the same
By Song Gao
I bought both volume 5 and volume 6. The questions in these books are pretty much the same. As an advice for future buyers, one latest volume should be enough.

Great for competitive math practice.
By new mom
This book is specifically for practicing Math League competitions, not general math learning. It contains actual Math League competition tests from years past. Yes, if your child is not participating in the Math League competitions, then the book may or may not be useful for you. See Mathleague.com to see samples representative of the tests in this book. If the questions are too easy for your child - good for you!

Fun and Challenging.
By Mr. Math Expert
After working through the problems in Math Contests, Grades 4, 5, & 6, Vol. 5, I went straight for Volume 6. It's as good as the other one, and I've enjoyed the problems.
This book is a lot more reasonable since the difficulty of the contests is broken down into 3 grade levels, making each one appropriately done. However, one contest for 6th grade (2007-2008) is really hard.
I don't agree with the solution for problem 26 from the 2010-2011 6th Grade Contest. I counted 9 2 by 2 tiles which takes up 36 square units. On the L side are 6 2 by 1 tiles and a L piece for the corner. You can break down a 2 by 2 tile into a 2 by 1 tile to save money. Hence, there should be 9 + 3 + 1 = 13 total tiles at a minimum.
All in all, Math Contests, Grades 4, 5, & 6, Vol. 6 is worth the time spent.
