"With over 40 years of experience, Mr. R. P. Deshpande is among the most experienced and respected specialists in Indian capacitor sector. He has helped various capacitor manufacturing organizations, both growth-oriented start-ups as well as established companies and, family-run as well as professionally managed businesses, to achieve enviable industry positions. Some of the capacitor brands, that he nurtured, continue to retain their market-pole position. Throughout his career, Mr. Deshpande has pioneered the development of many capacitor products, technologies, processes and related applications in the country. As a keen researcher in the field, his recent work on Ultracapacitors led him to publish a paper at an international seminar (CAPACIT - Mumbai, Jan 2010). Similarly, his work on the use of capacitors for energy storage and alternative energy appears as articles, papers and lectures on several prestigious platforms. Additionally, he is often invited as an expert speaker to various industry and academic forums across the country. Though a technologist at heart, his demonstrated acumen goes beyond engineering and into fields as diverse (but related) as business and financial planning, quality processes and industrial safety standards. Deshpande is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and an electrical engineering graduate from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. He continues to work as an independent advisor to capacitor manufacturing enterprises across the country and, in a visiting faculty role, loves to share his experience with students at university campuses."

This is one of the most detailed, yet easy to understand books written on capacitor technology. With an eye towards industry professionals (manufacturers, researchers), this book does a masterful job of starting from fundamental physics, but quickly moving beyond the basics.
A must read for any professional in the industry, in this book, the author RP Deshpande has covered the entire gamut of capacitor variations/ applications. The author is clearly an expert (as his profile shows), and his approach to writing the book is much different from the usual academic framework that we see on technical topics. It is quite refreshing to see books written by industry professionals - and this clearly shows in the book.
Highly recommended for industry professionals, manufacturers, researchers, and students of advanced capacitor technology.
